The current situation regarding the subject of the project
Various international organizations have predicted a rapid increase in the demand for products enriched with functional ingredients that positively contribute to health and/or protect against future ailments. In addition, there are special groups of consumers (eg athletes, hyperlipidemic patients, etc.) who are looking for specific products for their diet.
On the other hand, poultry farmers and processing units are looking for new ways of exploiting the raw material, in order to expand the purchasing base and develop as companies in a highly competitive international environment.
The innovation
The innovation introduced by the Operational Plan is about two axes: the first axis is the products. Drinks/desserts based on egg white enriched in specific bio-active substances are a Greek originality, while they are also recently available abroad.
They will meet the specific demands of consumers, who are increasingly aware of their nutritional needs and are becoming increasingly demanding in terms of food quality and nutrition. The second axis concerns the dessert production process, as the production of egg protein dessert is a global originality/innovation.
Agricultural European Innovation Partnership (EIP-AGRI)
The objective of Measure 16 is to strengthen the culture of cooperation between the involved bodies with the aim of:
- the strengthening of the competitiveness of businesses in primary production (agricultural holdings) in the food sector, mainly local products but also as well as
- the search for new cultivation practices and production practices that contribute to the protection of the environment but also to adaptation to climate change.
Through the partnerships that will be developed, the opportunity will be given to utilize new technologies and innovative processes for:
- the production of safer and healthier food.
- the reduction of water consumption and in general the cost of inputs for economic and environmental benefit
- ensuring the uniqueness of certified agricultural products
